Your Generous Donations Make the Difference

Help us raise $100,000 in May.  Your contribution will be used for fundraising advertising and to support Shea-Porter's opponent once determined in the primary election.

Scott Brown's victory was funded by small contributions from people all over the country, and nothing could make more sense.  For the same reason, it makes sense to invest in the outcome of the tightest House and Senate races.  NH-01 is one of them.

No Joke - NH State Senate Democrats HAVE Sent the Men Home

Representative Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) told her constituents in January why she wants to get rid of the men in Congress.  If the men weren't there, she contends, women could find "common ground" of some sort, allowing them to pass health care legislation that both the women and men of New Hampshire oppose.  Could it be any more clear that she's failing to represent us?  She does know she's there to represent us, doesn't she?  It seems more likely that she's in Pelosi mode, openly ignoring the will of the people to promote an unpopular agenda and set of unpopular ideologies at all costs.

If her misandrous goal seems a little silly, consider this seldom reported fact about New Hampshire's gender tilted state legislature.  Among Senate democrats there are 11 women and 3 men, and all the Senate leadership positions are held by democratic women.  When our representative in Washington makes these remarks without cracking a smile, let it be crystal clear.  In New Hampshire, the Senate democrats have already sent the men home, literally.  The key New Hampshire House leadership positions are also held by female democrats.  These radical politicians started the term with a passionate and relentless crusade to allow cross dressing and transgender men into the ladies rooms at the State House... and into ladies rooms all over the state!  There's no denying that left wing extremists, led by a nutty female majority, have begun to dominate New England government.  But there's little doubt that this will be turning around in a big way in November.

Shea-Porter claims her statements about sending the men home from congress were really intended to promote cooperation between the parties.  But at a 2005 Bush town hall meeting, she and an accomplice removed their sweatshirts to reveal t-shirts printed with the statement "Turn your Back on Bush", turned their backs on the President, and paraded their message before media cameras.  As confirmed on February 1 by Captain Tim Brownell of the Portsmouth Police Department, they were asked by police officers Michael Ronchi and Tom Grella to leave the event.

In the coming weeks, we'll be providing more background on the congresswoman from New Hampshire's first congressional district.  We'll also be providing opportunities for collaboration and activism.  In the mean time, please let 10 of your friends and family members know about this effort, and ask them to do the same!  It works.  In fact, this is the technique that got Carol Shea-Porter elected.

Key Events

February 2005 - Carol Shea-Porter told by police to leave a Portsmouth, NH town hall meeting after creating a disturbance and showing disrespect to the President.

November 2006 - Carol Shea-Porter elected to the U.S. Congress.

August 25, 2009 - Massachusetts Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy dies of brain cancer.  The powerful "Lion of the Senate" had been the leading voice for expanded government control of health care.

January 19, 2010 - In the most liberal state in America, Massachusetts Republican State Senator Scott Brown defeats Democrat and former Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley in the special election to fill the Senate seat held by Ted Kennedy.  Brown, who was once voted "America's Sexiest Man", runs on a platform opposing the costly and unpopular health care bill and promoting fiscal responsibility, and comes out of nowhere to win the seat by 5 points.  Brown's election gives the Republican minority 41 Senate seats, taking away the Democrat's filibuster-proof 60 vote majority, stalling the current health care legislation and forcing the reformulation of the Obama administration's agenda, which had been centered on health care reform.

January 23, 2010
- Carol Shea-Porter tells a Manchester, NH town hall audience why the men should be sent home from Congress.  She argues that the life experiences of women make them more capable of understanding health care issues and their importance.

January 29, 2010 - Carol Shea-Porter continues her pursuit of single payer, government controlled health care and joins a minority group of congressional progressives in signing a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.  The letter asks that the government controlled public option be put back into the health care reform bill.  Shea-Porter advocates achieving this goal without 60 votes in the Senate using the underhanded process of budget reconciliation, which only requires a 51 vote majority.  This sharply divides Democratic legislators as many recognize that such an approach, regardless of the outcome, would seriously jeopardize the perception of their party and their prospects for reelection.

February 3, 2010 - Republican Rich Ashooh, 45, announces his candidacy for the 1st District US House seat held by Carol Shea-Porter.  Ashooh is taking a leave of absence from his senior executive position at BAE systems, New Hampshire's largest manufacturer, which produces advanced military systems.  He joins former Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta and businessman Bob Bestani in the Republican primary.

February 4, 2010 - Republican Scott Brown sworn in to office, taking the Senate seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy.

February 4, 2010 - Carol Shea-Porter votes to increase the federal debt limit by $1.9 trillion

February 8, 2010 - Carol Shea-Porter's popularity plummeting.  University of New Hampshire WMUR Granite State Poll shows Carol Shea-Porter trailing all challengers.  Her net favorability rating stands at -5%, falling 16 points since October.

April 23, 2010 - Carol Shea-Porter's popularity continues to fall.  A poll from Public Policy Polling shows Carol Shea-Porter's net favorability rating now at -9%, falling 20 points since October.
